Named after Lord Vishnu, who according to a legend appeared at this place to bless Rishi Muni Narada. Vishnuprayag is heavenly in its nature. Vishnuprayag is open for visitors throughout the year, except during the brutal period of monsoon and a few months of winter. And in winter it becomes extremely cold, as a result of which the place is closed for some time. Rail: The nearest railhead is at Rishikesh. One can easily get a cab to Vishnuprayag or catch a bus from Vishnuprayag.

By Road: Vishnuprayag is well connected by motorable roads to various parts of the state. Public and private buses regularly travel in and out of the city connecting it with the surrounding towns and cities.
