Dennys offered free Denny’s Grand Slam on February 9 as part of its Grand Slam Guest Appreciation Promotion. Before that day, I had seen numerous blog posts and tweets about it, but I had never considered going.
Then DH saw the advertisement during the Super Bowl and asked if we were going, to which I replied, “Are you insane?”. I could only imagine the chaos that would ensue.
Then, on February 9 in the morning, he asked me again if we were going to Denny’s Grand Slam. Despite my reluctance, I decided to phone a few Dennys locations to determine whether the deal was valid in Hawaii and whether the lineups were insane.

Since DH wanted to go, we decided not to fight traffic into Aiea and instead traveled to Kunia as a family. As soon as we arrived, I waited in line while my husband parked.

There were only four Denny’s Grand Slam individuals ahead of me, but the line behind me swiftly swelled. I waited no longer than five minutes before being seated. 5 minutes!
The restaurant was packed to capacity, but the service was excellent. Within minutes, a waitress approached to take our order (Grand Slams, of course! ), and within minutes, we were all ready to dig in…

Service Was Outstanding
The service was outstanding, the meal was delicious, and the entire process flowed so well that we ended up leaving a 30 percent tip based on what we would have spent had the Grand Slams not been complimentary ($8.99 in Hawaii).
The manager stated that 2,000 Dennys Grand Slam were given away during the previous promotion and that they were aiming for 2,500 that day. It would not surprise me if they exceeded that figure.
If Denny’s were to offer a similar special in the future, I would return to the Kunia location.
